Mechanical models use AutoMeter's Bourdon tube movement and a 6-foot capillary tube for direct temperature measurement without requiring an electrical connection for gauge operation. Electric models use a remote temperature sender to deliver quick, accurate readings while keeping coolant outside the passenger compartment. Choose a 100–250°F electric gauge for broad everyday monitoring, a 120–240°F mechanical gauge for a narrower operating range, or a 140–280°F mechanical gauge when you want a higher upper limit.
