Glow Plug Removal Tool Adapter and Socket, Duramax | 2001 - 2016
The Merchant Automotive Glow Plug Removal Tool Adapter and Socket works with an air hammer to provide the hammering effect needed to loosen a stubborn glow plug. The flats on the bit let you use a wrench to apply the twisting force at the same time. The socket gets some machine work in house at Merchant Automotive so it does not damage the Duramax glow plug. It fits 2001-2016 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM and LML) and 2006-2016 Chevy Express and GMC Savana vans with the 6.6L Duramax (LLY, LMM and LGH).
Can I use an impact wrench instead? We don't recommend it. An impact wrench often twists off the glow plug rather than breaking it loose.

- Air hammer not included. Your air hammer needs 4.5 CFM at 90 PSI. If you need the air hammer and air nipple too, order the complete Glow Plug Removal Tool Kit .
- Not for the L5P. The L5P glow plug has a ceramic tip that could break off and fall down into the cylinder.
- Using an impact wrench instead of this setup often just twists off the glow plug rather than breaking it loose.
