Starter Solenoid, Hitachi Starter, Duramax | 2001-2019
This replacement starter solenoid fits the Hitachi starter used on 6.6L Duramax Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks. It's a 48 mm main-body Hitachi-style (ZM) solenoid from an OE supplier, and it replaces GM 97779441, 97720446 and 97209548. The solenoid is the high-current switch on top of the starter. It engages the starter drive and sends battery power to the motor when you turn the key. Solenoid failure is common on high-mileage Duramaxes. If the starter only clicks without cranking, or the starter's terminals are broken or damaged, you can replace just the solenoid instead of buying a complete starter.
